Merry Christmas

Well, guess you noticed I haven't been around.... I've been busy getting ready for Christmas....baking, buying, and wrapping. I just love this time of year even though it is so hectic. To make it more perfect, we got snow yesterday and it looks just like a picture when the lights twinkle on the snow covered bushes.

I want to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.
Hope to be around here more after the holidays....

Send our troops a Holiday Card

Thanks to Wanda from my local Freecycle group, I'm posting the right address to send Holiday cards to our troops.
Please try to get all your friends involved and lets make Christmas a little bit brighter to all the men and women who help to keep our country safe.

Cards should be mailed to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD. 20791-5456

OOOPS, I goofed!

I was told by a very sweet woman that the address for sending Christmas cards to recovering soldiers was a spoof. I'm really sorry I didn't check Snopes before posting it here.....If anyone has the correct address to send cards to our recovering heroes, please post a comment on here and I will make the change.
Sorry again, and thanks so much for visiting my blog.

I received this from a dear friend who writes a newsletter for her neighborhood, and she asked me to pass this along....It is my sincere pleasure to do so. I have a very soft spot in my heart for Veterans as my Dear Husband served his country for 25 years and I am very proud of him and every man and woman who helps keep our Dear Country of the United States of America a free place to live.

A day for family, food,
parades and football.
This year as you
give thanks please,
“Remember our Military.”

Monday, November 3, 2008

I received this in an email and thought it was such a wonderful idea, I wanted to pass it on here in the hopes we can get thousands of Christmas cards to the courageous men and women who put their lives at risk for our safety.

When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and
send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.

When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

If you approve, please pass it on.

SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers.

Times are tough and everything is so expensive, some people don't have enough $$ for everything. This is a gr8 way to be able to have free phone service if you qualify.

Hope this will be of help to someone who needs it.

I'd luv if you'd post a comment if you've been able to use this service.

As promised I'm back with my report on the fireworks.....first let me tell you a little about our dog, Nika....she's a 12 year old German Shepherd who is scared to death of fireworks and thunderstorms...hmmm, guess you know where I'm going with this. Anyway, on the 4th of July we gave her a half of a doggie tranquilizer that our vet had given us for her....she remained calm and we even were able to take her outside while the fireworks from our street were going on...they were very nice, but nothing specatular or the on the 4th all was well....on the 5th of July was another entirely different story. We went up to my son and daughter in laws home as they were having a gathering for family and friends and setting off fireworks as well as our towns fireworks. Did we give Nika a tranquilizer? No, we thought she'd be ok ...... we weren't going to be that long, plus we kept the air conditioner on and the fans going and figured she wouldn't hear the outside noise that much...... The fireworks were spectacular, my son really outdid himself...and they lasted and lasted and we stayed much longer than we anticipated...

When we came in the door we noticed things knocked off the end table, but no big deal.... cleaned it up then we went to bed!!!!! Thats when things got a little messy....apparently Nika needed her "PaPa" and layed on his side of the bed (she had neva gotten on the bed before to our knowledge) and PEED, and PEED, and PEED!!!!!!! Needless to say there was work to be done, and no sleeping on the bed that night! Today my clothes line is full of sheets, blanket, mattress pads and pillow cases...and on top of all that ITS GOING TO RAIN.... Happy 6th of July fellow readers!!!!!

Friday, July 4, 2008

This Grammie has had a perfect 4th of July so far... we had a cookout earlier today with our children, stepchildren, lots of grandchildren, in laws and ex's too.....gr8 food, and perfect come the fireworks. Will let you all know how gr8 they turn out.

Gonna Be a Bear

A dear friend sent this to me and just had to share with all of you...I just thought it was too funny....

In this life I'm a woman. In my next life, I'd like to come back as a bear. When you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that.

Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that too.

When your a girl bear, you birth your children,(who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that.

If you're mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too. I could deal with that.

If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.

YUP, gonna be a bear!

Wanna find a Wii?? I found just the place!

I've been looking for a Wii for such a long time now, and every time a store advertises them in stock, when I get there, you guessed it, they are all sold out. I neva had any luck online either unless of course I wanted to buy a "Wii bundle" at a price higher than I wanted to pay. And even they were hard to come by. All I really wanted was the Wii, no games, (I wanted the buy the games I wanted, not what the stores wanted to sell me)Anyway, I found this site .... I joined and I must say I did miss some of Justin's alerts only because I wasn't online...but in 2 weeks I had my hard to find Wii delivered to my home. I was so thrilled to be able to get it at the regular store price, nothing overinflated, and with very reasonable shipping. My next hard to find purchase is a Wii Fit game and so I emailed Justin to see if they did alerts for them...well, they do, and I'm sure in no time I will be able to find one of those check out his site for any hard to find game console or game for that matter too...he's a really nice guy and you'll be glad you signed up with him...go here and check out his site.

Please sign the petition "Protect our private health and financial information sent to foreign countries". I'm asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 1,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts.

What a discovery I made today!!!!!

Oh my God, I can't believe what I discovered today...I had to share with all of you...if any of my sisters out there "enhance" their hair like I do, hope this helps you.
I decided this morning that today was the day to "enhance" my hair...mind you I didn't say color as I have no grays to hide (roflmao) rather I enhance the natural highlights in my otherwise drab hair. I'm a licensed cosmetologist, but that doesn't help when I'm doing my own hair. As Marilyn said this week when she was getting a bath from her water heater, picture Lucy and Ethel "enhancing" their hair and you can imagine what I do when I'm doing mine. I have to literally line the floor, vanity and anything else in site when I'm applying Nice N Easy #117 to my hair. Well, anyway, when I was almost done applying the color I noticed a spot on my sink and wanted to get it off before it stained it permanently. I picked up a new Mr Clean Eraser and took off the mark....hmmmm, at this point I have color all over my hairline, ears, and some unfortunately on my arms and neck......what the heck, if Mr Clean works on walls and everything else, why not try it on me! OH MY GOD IT WORKED LIKE A MIRACLE! No stains on me anywhere!!!!!!! Just a lil swipe and all traces of unwanted signs of color were gone.... now to contact Mr Clean and tell them my good news.....had to share it with all of you, and hope you got a good chuckle out of my experience too...
